The RNLI has issued a third warning to boat users in just a week about the importance of studying their charts and staying within navigation buoys after two people had to be rescued on Thursday night.

There have been three incidents in the past week where people had to be rescued after their cruise boats ran aground on Lough Derg.

The latest rescue operation was mounted last night after a vessel with two people on board ran onto a bank at Sandy Bottom in Dromineer Bay in Co Tipperary.
