Recall of 1.6m BMWs due to safety fears over airbags
The recall affects 3-series models manufactured between May 1999 and August 2006. The German auto giant needs to replace passenger-side front airbags made by Japanese company Takata Corp.
There is a fear the inflators in the bag could break apart during deployment and injure passengers. BMW has said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the issue.
