Recall and replace

The recall of devices used to pinpoint the location of vessels in trouble is a worrying development and confirms suspicions that some vessels have gone out to sea with faulty equipment and there can no longer be any room for doubt that lives were put at risk.

The challenges facing fishermen on a daily basis are bad enough without the added danger of going to sea with faulty radio beacons on board.

What this means is that people going to the rescue of a boat in trouble would effectively be blind to where it might or might not be.
