No more hidden fees for online purchases as loophole closed

From today, consumers will no longer have to "opt out" of additional services or be hit with hidden fees and charges when they are making purchases online.

The Consumer Rights Directive officially comes into effect this morning, It:

- Bans pre-ticked boxes — where consumers wish to avail of additional services offered by a trader (such as insurance or car hire), they must explicitly opt in by selecting the appropriate box;
