Three years of science education were assessed for 55,000 Junior Certificate students, whose exams filled their morning timetable.

Association of Secondary Teachers Ireland (ASTI) subject representative Helen Spruhan said she thought the higher- and ordinary- level papers were similar to those of previous years.

She expects that students who had worked hard should have done very well. Ms Spruhan said it was nice to see aspects of the science papers referring to everyday life and activities, which she said brings the subject into the present.
