The Government is facing renewed pressure to sanction the construction of a strategic new motorway between Cork City and Ringaskiddy.

Cork Chamber will launch an updated report today which presents a robust economic analysis to justify why an estimated €135m should be ploughed into the stalled N28 upgrade.

But the Chamber commissioned Indecon update of its 2010 report also warns of the stark cost to the State, to Ireland’s biopharma sector — most of which is concentrated in Ringaskiddy — and to the Port of Cork in particular, if the road isn’t upgraded.
