Pressure is mounting on Cork’s city officials to cut through red tape and release funding to fix the broken clock in the landmark Shandon steeple.

Cork Chamber warned the saga is doing “undue reputational damage” to the city and rejected calls for the business community to support a radio station’s fundraising drive to fund the repairs.

The onus for resolving the issue rests solely with City Hall, Chamber chief executive Conor Healy said.
