A man and a woman were rescued from a dry river bed at the narrowest point of the Gap of Dunloe after they appear to have been blown off their motorbike by a powerful gust of wind as they drove through the tourist route at the weekend.

The accident occurred at the narrowest point in the gap through the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks near Killarney.

The Kerry Mountain Rescue team was called to assist ambulance personnel and members stretchered the injured pair for a mile towards a waiting rescue helicopter.
