‘Love/Hate’ star shot in Dublin

Leroy Harris, who played Ginny in the series, received a leg wound while out walking with a friend at 3.40am near Rutland Cottages in the north inner city yesterday.
The 19-year-old from Mariners Port in the city was treated for a graze injury at the back of his right calf at the Mater Hospital.
Gardaí believe two shots were fired, probably from a handgun, by an assailant described as wearing a grey tracksuit, black gloves, and with his face covered.
Harris’s friend was not injured.
Gardaí are now looking at CCTV footage taken near the scene and have questioned Harris on his experience of the attack.
Harris sprang to national prominence when, in the last season of Love/Hate, his character, Glen or ‘Ginny’, looked on as another character shot a cat.

Harris appeared in three episodes of the show, having come to the attention of programme-makers via a casting agency.
It is understood that he does not feature in the upcoming series, although RTÉ refused to comment either way yesterday.
In early March, Harris appeared before Dublin District Court, where he was ordered to enter a restorative justice programme supervised by the Probation Service.
That came after he had pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of cannabis worth €100 and having the drug for sale or supply at Sheriff St in Dublin on October 14 last.
He had been caught with two packets of cannabis, but a Probation Report was described in court as “exceptionally positive”. The judge had stated Harris, with no previous convictions, was at “low risk of offending in the next 12 months”.
