French authorities have asked for further Irish assistance into their own investigation into the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier, Justice Minister Alan Shatter has revealed.

He told TDs the request from Paris was being considered and no decision had yet been taken.

Mr Shatter said Ireland had been providing assistance to the French investigation into the documentary film maker’s death under various international co-operation agreements.
