VIDEO: Ceol, craic agus sheep - Ireland’s highest pub goes viral

A video from the Top of Coom pub made by the Irish Examiner's Dan Linehan has gained over 45,000 views on YouTube in just a few days. It features locals Dan Kelleher, Joe Kelly and Johnny McCarthy.

The Top of Coom pub was destroyed in a fire in 2012 and the regulars were delighted by the reopening.

The three men in the pub were almost reduced to tears while laughing at Dan Kelleher's statement: "I hadn't a pint with the last two years!"

Joe Kelly adds: "We're after building up a lot of money and we'll have to spend it."

He remarks that the pub's reopening is important for the locality: "We keep up the tradition of singing and music. We have dancing and everything."

The unique appeal of the Top of Coom is obvious in the video as sheep not only run past the exterior, they also have a drink in the pub during the clip while the men joke about it being lambing season.

So popular was the lamb in the original video that it features prominently in a follow up video. Shown being fed milk by Joe Kelly, the lamb turns its nose up when offered a sip of porter.
