Crucifixion of Christ re-enacted

Passion 2014 will involve a cast of over 40 drawn from the parish of Pallasgeen/Nicker. Scenes from the Garden of Gethsemane will be recalled on the lawn of the parochial home of parish priest Fr Pat Byrnes and will then move to other locations through the night.

The Crucifixion will be re-enacted on Nicker Hill tomorrow afternoon, where huge numbers are expected to gather.

Rehearsals under local drama producer Eamonn Harty commenced last August. Costumes have been brought in from a theatrical company in the US.

Local tyre company owner Garry Fraher plays the role of Jesus.

The Good Friday scenes will commence at 8.30, with Jesus being sentenced to be crucified by Pontius Pilate.
