Consultants’ departure may lead to unit collapse

A regional dermatology service catering for in excess of 9,000 patients each year faces the threat of collapse because of the imminent departure of the two consultants running it.

Consultant dermatologist Dr Colin Buckley is taking early retirement from the South East service due to the workload, effective from September.

The second dermatologist, Dr Sinead Field, appointed last year, is due to go on maternity leave in June.
