A splash of springcolour is coming to north Cork thanks to the blooming talents of one of the country’s youngest businesses — which is turning old wellies into bright flower pots.

The sixth class of Baltydaniel National School, Newtwopothouse, have played a part in the idea, the research, the design, marketing — and hopefully the sales — for their Blooming Wellies.

For teacher Karen O’Brien, it has also meant a chance to develop key personal and other skills that run through the curriculum, disguised through the fun teamwork and innovation of the Junior Entrepreneur Programme (JEP).
