Boy, 2, found on road after 2am escape

A young man has been hailed a hero after helping to reunite a toddler with his family after the boy disappeared from the family home in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The two-year-old opened the front door of his home in Garryowen, Limerick city, and walked about a kilometre along the Dublin Road at around 2.20am.

A 21-year old man found the boy wandering along the road and alerted gardaí.
