Jury fails to reach rape trial verdict

The jury failed to reach a verdict in the case against a 49-year-old man accused of raping his partner at his home in Cork in May 2012.

The case will now be relisted for trial before another jury, possibly some time later this year.

In the meantime, the accused will be back before the Central Criminal Court on March 19 for sentencing of the accused for a physical assault on the complainant on the same date, namely a charge of assault causing harm.
