Aer Lingus has sought to offset some of the impact of next week’s strike by Siptu ground crew and airport employees by hiring in extra planes, moving some flights and cancelling others.

Siptu is due to hold a four-hour stoppage on March 14 which will close down the airports to all incoming and outgoing scheduled flights.

In response, Aer Lingus has cancelled almost 10% of its schedule or the flights of 3,000 passengers for that day. However, it hopes that a number of those passengers will be accommodated on alternative flights.
