Couples to battle it out in competition for free wedding reception

Couples from all over the country are to duke it out to win a wedding reception as part of a new ‘Wedding Run’ competition.

With Valentine’s Day looming, the competition gives couples due to tie the knot the chance to bag a wedding at the Cork International Airport Hotel. It will be decided by a first-date story that will win over a panel of judges, with a shortlist of six couples then facing a public vote from radio listeners, who will select the top three. Those couples then face a series of challenges to determine who wins the top prize, which is a wedding reception for 100 guests.

Brid Ryan, banqueting manager at Cork International Hotel, said the stories of first-dates or how couples met did not have to be all sweetness and sunshine — just entertaining.
