The term NekNominations is now a subject of much public discourse and debate and has placed social media in the spotlight once again.

What started as a drinking game on social media has now become a source of tragedy which has prompted comment by An Taoiseach.

The death of two young men have now been attributed to the "craze" and has prompted criticisms of social media in general and calls for the game itself to be banned by Facebook.
