A former employee of Abtran, operating the Revenue’s property tax helpline, has been ordered to obey the directions of the probation service for a year for inducing members of the public to give bank card details by deception.

Jonathan Gough, aged 22, of DeBurgh, Glyntown, Glanmire, Co Cork, was back before Cork District Court for sentencing on four fraud offences at Abtran in University Technology Park, Curraheen, Cork, in May.

He admitted fraud offences where he obtained bank and credit card details from people inquiring about filing their local property tax returns.
