Sitting only feet away from Guinness and Heineken taps and under switched-off disco lights, the 41-year-old niece of billionaire fashion icon Ralph Lauren, who is accused of being drunk on board a transatlantic flight, was brought to a pub in the west of Ireland to learn her fate.

Dressed in a smart black dress, coat and boots, New York-based jewellery designer Jenny Lauren wept before she appeared before the Killaloe District Court in relation to three separate charges arising from an air rage incident on board a Delta Airlines flight on Monday over the Atlantic.

The court is sitting in the Brian Boru pub in Ballina on the shores of Lough Derg as the courts service has no permanent courthouse for the area.
