A murder probe was launched last night after a 30-year-old man was stabbed to death in Co Louth.

The attack happened in the Rathmullen Park area of Drogheda, Co Louth, at approximately 1.45am yesterday morning.

The victim, Wayne McQuillan of Marian Park in the town, was found with a number of stab wounds in the front garden of a house. He was rushed by gardaí to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where he was later pronounced dead. Following an autopsy, gardaí confirmed they had upgraded their investigation to a murder inquiry and that a 40-year-old woman had been arrested.
