A Dingle swimmer is in the running to be crowned the world’s 2013 Woman Open Water Swimmer of the Year.

Ice swimmer Nuala Moore, who practices in a corrie lake high over the Connor Pass in Dingle, is one of only five women to have swum 1,000m in the Arctic Circle near Murmansk.

Immersed in the extreme end of the sport, she has “double crossed” the English channel — when she reached the coast of France in 2008 she turned around and swam back again.
