Stormy weather to return with gusto from Wednesday afternoon

High winds were responsible for flight delays at Dublin airport, some having to divert to Shannon on Saturday because of dangerous landing conditions. Road conditions were also made dangerous by the driving rain and caution over fallen trees and poles.
In Cork, one of the city’s busiest car parks at the Paul Street Shopping Centre was forced to close on Saturday afternoon after falling debris required traffic to be restricted to one lane on Lavitt’s Quay. Two incidents required the city fire brigade to attend the area, one in which cladding came loose from a building on the quay and another in which bricks were loosened from an older building in the area.
