Navy gets into shipshape with appointments

Two men who live in Carrigaline have received notable appointments in the Naval Service, one as its boss and the other as captain of its newest vessel, LÉ Samuel Beckett, when it arrives in the spring.

After 36 years in the service, Commodore Hugh Tully has been appointed Flag Officer Commanding the Naval Service.

The Dublin native has held a broad range of appointments in the navy and, prior to his elevation to the top job, was Officer Commanding Naval Operations Command for three years.
