250,000 property payments this week

The Revenue Commissioners received more than 250,000 local property tax returns and 70,000 calls about the tax between Monday and Wednesday.

Revenue last night said , due to the “exceptional” level of filing over the previous two days and “unprecedented volume of calls to the local property tax helpline,” it has extended the online filing deadline. Property owners now have until 5pm on Friday to file their 2014 local property tax returns. This will still allow Revenue time to implement the individual’s preferred tax local property tax payment option for 2014,” a spokeswoman said.

The helpline (1890 200 255) will be open from 8am to 8pm today , and from 8am tomorrow.
