The family of a boy who drowned during last summer’s heatwave are still too traumatised to give direct evidence at an inquest, a coroner was told yesterday.

Cork city coroner Dr Myra Cullinane agreed to adjourn the inquest into the death of Kyle Roche, 11, from Bellevue Terrace in Youghal, Co Cork, until next March.

Kyle became the third drowning victim in just two days during last July’s heatwave. He was playing in a rock-enclosed enclave between Moll Goggin’s Corner and the promenade at Youghal Strand when he got into difficulties just before 5pm on July 11.
