Tubridy rejects 11-year-old Fergal's application to co-host Toy Show

11-year-old Fergal Smith from County Cavan broke hearts across the country today when his tongue-in-cheek letter to Ryan Tubridy was read out live on 2fm.

In the email, the schoolboy claims to have a common disability called "middle child syndrome" and asks to co-host the Late Late Toy Show with Ryan.

While Tubridy does say "I think anyone who writes an email like this needs to be met and congratulated", he ultimately rejected Fergal's application saying all the children taking part in this year's Toy Show have already been chosen.

Fergal's mother Mairead appeared on the 2fm show shortly after her sons letter was read out. She branded Fergal a "monkey" and said he wrote the entire email himself without her knowledge.
