A Libyan-born man who once featured on the UN al Qaeda “terror list” has offered to make tea for two officers from the Garda Special Detective Unit after he pleaded guilty to assaulting them.

Ibrahim Buisir, aged 50, who lives in south Co Dublin, avoided jail and was fined €600 when he apologised in court to the two female officers. He said: “I am sorry, next time you are at my house I will invite you in for tea.”

The father of six pleaded guilty at Dublin District Court to assaulting Det Garda Gillian Morris and Det Garda Leanna Cruise.
