The trials and tribulations of Mrs Brown and her boys is adding to Brendan O’Carroll’s fortune with the comedian’s main company posting profits of €1m last year.

New accounts filed to the Companies Office by Mrs Brown Boys Ltd show that profits more than quadrupled going from €248,995 in 2011 to €1.075m in the 12 months to the end of December last.

O’Carroll is the creative force behind the sitcom, Mrs Brown’s Boys, and the stellar year allowed him to take a dividend of €420,000 from the firm. O’Carroll shared the dividend with his wife and company shareholder, Jennifer Gibney, who plays Mrs Brown’s daughter, Cathy, in the series.
