HSE to pay nurse €85k for constructive dismissal

The HSE has been ordered to pay €85,000 compensation to a nurse who was forced to move from a job which allowed her to work with a disability.

The Equality Tribunal found the HSE had constructively dismissed the unidentified nurse and discriminated against her on the grounds of disability by failing to properly try and find her alternative work.

It found the HSE had tried to “freeze her out” so she would retire early on ill-health grounds.
