Conferences to showcase future of retail sector

A Tipperary company will host two major conferences next month to showcase some of the technology set to influence the retail sector in years to come.

The two one-day events are being held by Clonmel-based VisionID and will include a “Store of the Future” exhibition on some of the innovations revolutionising the industry.

On Oct 22, ‘Retail Technology: Experience is Everything’, will feature live demonstrations of technologies such as Guest WiFi and Team Solutions along with Smart Badge, SelfScan Kiosks, and electronic shelf- edge labelling.

Industry leaders from Motorola Solutions, GS1, and Espion will give presentations on their experiences and their thoughts on the impact of retail technologies such as eCommerce and compliance barcoding into the future.

The following day will see the ‘Manufacturing Technology — Solutions for the Future’ event and will involve a guided tour of each stage of the manufacturing process, including live demonstrations of the technologies available to enhance production, streamline processes and improve product quality.

From creation to dispatch, this manufacturing centre will highlight cutting-edge technologies driving industry forward.

VisionID sales director Cathal Murtagh said the purpose of the events is “to increase the exposure of leading technologies to the Irish manufacturing industry from various organisations”.
