Top theatre ‘in jeopardy’ over funding shortage

That’s the warning from the Everyman Theatre’s artistic director Michael Barker-Caven, who says the takings at the box office and the relatively small grants its gets from the Arts Council and Cork City Council are not enough to pay for the upkeep of the MacCurtain St building.
Despite being recognised as one of the top five theatres in the country, the Cork venue is way down the pecking order when it comes to receiving grant aid.
