Half a million men and women living in farming communities will be taught how to look out for their loved ones in a new bid to curb suicides in rural Ireland.

It is part of Pieta House’s Mind Our Men initiative, which began earlier this year aiming to reduce the level of male suicides.

The campaign was launched on World Suicide Prevention Day yesterday by Pieta House chief executive Joan Freeman and Fine Gael TD Helen McEntee, daughter of the late junior minister Shane McEntee.
