Man armed with pickaxe handle at city bus terminal

Visitors arriving by bus into Cork City received an unusual welcome — the sight of one man armed with a pickaxe handle and another with a different weapon at the main bus terminal.

“They looked like they were warming up for something,” Inspector Pat Meaney said yesterday at Cork District Court.

The inspector said he was on duty at Anglesea St Garda Station when he clearly saw, on camera, the two men at Parnell Place bus station shortly before midnight.
