Patients already accustomed to earfuls from loved ones to take their daily medication may soon be able to swap it for a belly-full of pills instead.

New hi-tech tablets that text patients’ doctors or carers may put an end to worries about forgetting daily doses of medication.

The tablets contain a tiny silicon chip which uses the body’s stomach acid as a battery to signal that the patient has taken his or her medication.
