Suicide spurs call for Priory Hall resolution

Residents of the notorious Priory Hall ghost estate have urged Taoiseach Enda Kenny to resolve the long-running scandal after the tragic suicide of a man caught up in the crisis.

Suicide spurs call for Priory Hall resolution

Fiachra Daly, 37, died on Jul 15 after enduring two years of crippling debts linked to his apartment in the north Dublin complex — despite the fact it has been left empty for over two years.

Along with the other 256 families at Priory Hall, Mr Daly, his partner and their two young children were evacuated from the Thomas McFeely-built development in late 2011 due to serious fire safety regulation breaches. However, despite the fact this was not the fault of those living in the estate, he was still having to pay back significant loans for a home he could not live in.
