A mystery flasher has made some fleeting appearances in one of the country’s top tourist attractions.

Two women reported seeing the man earlier this week in Killarney National Park, and local gardaí are investigating.

Over the years, there have been reports of flashers in the park, but it is believed nobody has ever been prosecuted in relation to the sightings.

The man at the centre of the latest reports has been described as grey-haired and “not too young”. He was fully naked and standing behind a big tree, darting in and out.

“The high grass was the only thing that was saving people,’’ said one of the women.

The latest incidents were in the Knockreer area of the park, about a kilometre inside the entrance, opposite St Mary’s Cathedral.

It’s an area that’s popular with walkers and joggers, both locals and tourists, and young families.

Woodland provides plenty of cover and previous reports of flashers were that they darted in and out between trees, before disappearing completely after putting their clothes back on.

Gardaí said yesterday there had been no incidents of that kind for some time, but bike patrols would continue in the park.

Park rangers with binoculars will also be keeping an eye out for the flasher.
