His 6-year-old daughter, Kate, and his newborn son, Tom, were also in the studio as listeners rang in to talk about Saturday’s nuptials in Meath.

Jenny Kelly, who is the co-presenter and producer of the show, has been on maternity leave since the arrival of baby Tom in June, but she made a special family appearance on the morning show yesterday to talk about her excitement at the wedding tomorrow.

The Today FM host said he wanted to have his long-time partner on the show before the wedding in response to demand from listeners.

Jenny, who has worked on the show for 13 years, disclosed that her daughter had been the only person to see her wedding dress.

“The only person who has seen my wedding dress is Kate D’Arcy” she said.

And Jenny told the audience that her wedding theme was to party and stay up all night dancing.

She said: “The theme is party, drink lots, and try not to fall on my very high heels and stay up until at least five o’clock in the morning.

“I just wanted to say thanks a million to everybody for being lovely and kind and thanks a mil.”

Kate even got involved by telling listeners that her job on the big day was “giving flowers,” before adding: “Thank you everybody.”

And Jenny joked that her husband-to-be had turned into a groomzilla in recent weeks.

“I think it kicked in about three weeks ago,” she said. “He suddenly became interested in the whole thing and becoming involved in a very male way.”

Ray, meanwhile, explained that he had put all of his jobs onto the long finger until this month.

“When I got around to doing them it was three weeks before the wedding and so things weren’t available and people weren’t available, so I had to frantically try and get things done,” he said. “All bar a couple of things, everything is done.”

Then, while reading a string of good wishes from listeners, Ray jokingly asked his bride-to-be: “You’re sure about the whole thing?”

He added he was really looking forward to the ceremony but wanted to keep all his sentiment for his speech.

Ray left the studio to a huge round of applause, telling listeners he would be a married man the next time he went on air.

He said: “Right, we’re off, Jenny and I and Tom and Kate, to get married.”
