Jack Lynch Tunnel to close at night for upgrade

The Jack Lynch Tunnel will be closed nightly for three weeks from Sept 2 to facilitate safety upgrade works, including the installation of electronic safety barriers which are standard in all modern tunnels.

The closure will take place nightly from 9.15pm to 7am, but special allowance will be made for Cork hurling fans making an early start on their trip to Dublin on Sept 8 in the hope of watching the men in red lift the Liam MacCarthy Cup.

On that day the tunnel will open at 5am and will not close until midnight.
