Outbreaks of flash flooding and thunderstorms caused major disruption to energy and transport services in Dublin early yesterday.

Heavy downpours led to flooding in parts of the capital, with damage to a number of landmark buildings, including the city’s oldest department store.

The torrential rain leaked into a number of buildings, including Clerys department store on O’Connell St, and the Mater Hospital.
