HSE paid UK firm €28.8m for fostering service

One firm has received €28.8m from the HSE for providing private foster care over the past four years, new figures show.

According to figures released by the HSE, UK-owned Fostering First Ireland Ltd received €28.8m between 2009 and 2012. They show the firm got €9.36m for providing care to 135 children and €7.7m in 2011 for providing care for 132 children.

The figures provided show that €48m have been paid to five foster care companies over the past four years.

<p> Volunteers attending the DMax 7.7 fitness event, in honour of Darragh McCarthy, who tragically passed away last year at just 21 years of age. The sold-out fitness event saw over 300 competitors take on DMax 7.7 featuring seven fitness stations, lasting seven minutes per station with a two minute transition between station. Competitors entered in teams of two and tested their strength, endurance and mental resilience across a series of challenges including rope skipping, ski-erg, medicine ball, assault bike, rowing, burpee box jumps and wall balls.
