Norris leaves hospital to fight abolition of Seanad

Outspoken Senator David Norris discharged himself from hospital so that he could speak against the abolition of the Seanad yesterday.

Mr Norris, who has revealed he is battling cancer, was given permission from his medical team to take part in a heated Oireachtas debate on the future of the upper house.

In an at times emotional address, the Trinity senator railed against the Government’s abolition plans which he branded political vandalism.
