New regulation of designated residential centres for adults and children with disabilities will see the review of some individual living arrangements.

Inspections watchdog Hiqa published fresh information on how the scheme will operate under the regulations that are expected to be rolled out from Sept 1.

In a section on its website, Hiqa said all providers of residential services for adults and children with disabilities are subject to the provisions of Part 8 of the act. It also means anyone seeking to open a new centre from Sept 1 will have to first register with the authority.
