Smokers remain worst litterers on our streets

Smokers remain the worst offenders in littering the nation’s streets.

Cigarette-related litter accounts for almost 53% of dirt in cities and towns, followed by food and packaged rubbish at 19% and 13%, respectively.

For the first time, the number of areas surveyed across the country which were deemed to be completely unpolluted exceeded 10%, the highest level achieved since a monitoring process began.
