Up to 10 FG members set to oppose abortion bill

The Government faces growing opposition to its abortion legislation, with predictions that up to 10 Fine Gael members could oppose the passing of the legislation.

However, an attempt by anti-abortion members to introduce motions opposing the bill were withdrawn last night ahead of the legislation coming before the Dáil for debate today.

Galway West TD Brian Walsh became the third Fine Gael Oireachtas member to indicate opposition to the Protection of Life during Pregnancy Bill.
