Women who believe their lives are at risk will have to wait 10 days before a decision to refuse them a termination is reviewed.

The Protection of Life during Pregnancy Bill — published in the early hours of yesterday — says a committee must be convened within three days of a woman submitting an appeal of a decision by a medical panel to refuse her a termination.

That committee of medical practitioners, which must hear the views of the pregnant woman, will then have seven days to make their determination.
