Consulting firm secures €32.4m in contracts from department in five years

Social Protection Minister Joan Burton has confirmed that this year alone, the Irish arm of the Dutch-headquartered BearingPoint has secured €8.7m in fees after winning four separate contracts since January.
The company was paid a further €7.8m in 2011; €8.1m in 2010, and €7.8m in 2009 in relation to 13 contracts across the three years.
The most recent accounts show that in 2011, the firm’s 126 staff shared a pay-pot of €10.43m, or on average of €82,837 each.
Ms Burton confirmed the total value of contracts awarded by her department to all firms on foot of a competitive tender advertised since Jan 2012 is €22.9m.
Deloitte has secured contracts valued at €2m. Accenture has secured work totalling €1.6m
A spokeswoman for the department said yesterday: “In order to provide some context for the figures supplied, it should be noted that the ICT budget in the department is between 9% and 10% of its administrative spend, or just under €58.5m this year.”
