Hogan to accelerate boundary extension

The environment minister wants to see concrete progress on the first boundary extension for Cork City in almost 50 years — before next year’s local elections.

Phil Hogan made his comments before unveiling details of one of the most radical reforms of Ireland’s local government system in over a century.

A Cork City boundary extension — the first since the mid-60s — was among a raft of proposals signalled in the minister’s policy document, Putting People First, which was published last October.
