A €2.4m budget cut for a development agency will pull the plug on 50 new jobs and signal the end of several crucial projects in West Cork, it has been warned.

The board of the West Cork Development Partnership is seeking an urgent meeting with the Department of Environment to discuss the implications of the cut to the Leader programme.

It is understood that a variety of job-creating projects in sectors such as tourism, light manufacturing, and e-centres will be hit, as well as a number of community amenity projects.
